Friendship...CMK Blog Challenge

Friendship defined: 1)a relationship between two or more people who are friends; 2)the mutual feelings of trust and affection and the behavior that typify relationships between friends

I do have some great friends, but there are two that I trust my life.

My best friend for the past fifteen years is also my husband. We met in college, and we use to spend hours talking about - anything. We have always found it so easy to talk with each other and there are no secrets between us. He truly completes me as a person, and I don't know what I would ever do without him.

My friend for the last 6 years has always been there for me. Anne and I met when I started working at my current school. We are just across the hall from each other, and we have "meetings" in the hallway! We both scrapbook and have so much in common! When she is gone or sick for a day, I feel that my day just isn't complete! There aren't too many people I can say that about, but I know she is a ture friend - what more could I ever want! But I just realized I don't have a picture of her! Well, I'll have to correct that! LOL!! :)

I Dare You to Move....

I love this song by Switchfoot, so I just had to add the video to the bottom of my blog...enjoy!

"I Dare You To Move"

Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone's here
Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next?

[Chorus:]
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before

Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be

[Chorus]

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here

High Tech music...

So I have seen other blogs that have video clips playing in the background. Finally, I figured out the tech side of adding the right HTML to get it to work. Well, then I had to think...what song should I pick? There were tons that I love! But I settled first on U2. They have always been one of my favorites. I chose Pride (In the Name of Love) because it brings so many issues of those who have given their lives for the betterment on the human race, including Jesus Christ. Here are the lyrics...

Pride (In the Name of Love)
One man come in the name of love
One man come and go.
One man come he to justify
One man to overthrow.

In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.

One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed up on an empty beach
One man betrayed with a kiss.

In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.

Early morning, April four
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky.
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride.

In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.

In the name of love
What more in the name of love.
In the name of love
What more in the name of love.

Another snowy Sunday and game day...

We ended yp with about 8 inches over night, so it made the streets a mess today. DH cleared the driveway after church, and then we just spent some time chilling. ODS had a basketball game late this afternoon, and he made 6 points! He was so excited! Normally this is the point where I would show you some cool pics, but today I decided to leave the ca,era behind and enjoy the game. Looking about - I would have taken it! There were some cool shots I could have taken!

Resolutions...

I normally am not the type of person who makes resolutions, probably because I would just end up breaking them. Lately though, maybe because of age or motherhood, I have decided that maybe I need to set some goals - if not for me than for them. So here are some well pondered resolutions...

1) Laugh more and smile often - being positive helps remove stress and refocus the true meaning of why I am here.

2) Hand the camera over - my sons will thank me one day.

3) Exercise and lose weight - my sons will thank me one day.

4) Finish my Master's degree - I will thank myself when it is all over! :)

5) Focus on my life, my sons and my dreams - living life in the moment will help those moments become memories.

6) Stay grounded in God - He gives me so amazing moments every day, and He truly deserves all the praise.
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." ~ 2 Corinthians 4:18

Snowy Sunday...

We ended up with almost 6 new inches of snow on Sunday. The boys loved it! I ended up with a late start at school, but they got the day off! Lucky dogs!

After a fun day of playing in the snow yesterday, we spent the rest of the afternoon chillin' in front of the TV. YDS was sitting on my lap, and he even fell asleep for awhile. I treasured that moment, because I know there won't be many more moments that I will get to have.

Basketball Sunday...

Even though a snowstorm was brewing outside, there was some hot plays on the court! ODS had two basketball games earlier today. The boys did an awesome job! They won both games!

Piggy Tales...Becky Higgin's sketch project

This sketch by CK's Becky HIggin's was perfect for these pictures and papers!

"The Many Faces of You"

PP, chipboard letters, & file tab: Piggy Tales Goldilocks and the 3 Bears Collection
Other: Technique Tuesday stamps & InkXpressions Black ink, buttons & raffia, Zig pen – black, black brads, DSP Polyanna font
Fun tips: I used the negative and positive formats of the chipboard letters to create part of the title. I wanted to leave as much “white” space as possible, so I placed the journaling in the brackets on the right side of the LO. For one portion of the small pictures, I took one large picture and divided it into sections, making sure not to cut through the face. So the picture on the bottom left of the right side is sectioned, but not in 2x2 squares.

Journaling: Benjamin, you wear many hats and have such amazing facial expressions. Looking at you there are endless things that can be seen in your face. There is optimism and energy in your smile and a sparkle in your eyes. Your face can be serious, but there is always a glow of contentment that shines through. Most of all, looking at you I see joy!

Scrapping Sunday part 2

"Spirited Ben"

PP: School Mates - Sports
CS: Paperbilities & Bazzill
Junkitz chipboard letter
Heidi Swapp Chipbord letters
Black embossing powder
Zig & Unibal pens
DSP stencil font
Machine stitiching

Scrapping Sunday...

"Snow Dog"

PP: Basic Grey and Piggy Tales
Maya Road chipboard swirl
Scenic Route chipboard letters
SU ink and pens
Unibal white pen
Snowflake brads

JOurnaling: You were unsure of the white stuff falling from the sky. Tentatively you stepped out into the winter wonderland. You had never seen snow before. You sniffed, pawed and even barked at it until you realized how much fun it could be.

Fun tip: I used the MR swirl for the S in the title.

Piggy Tales & 3M projects

Piggy Tales teamed up with 3M (Scotch) for this month's challegnes to the DT. We had to use the 3M products in fun unique ways. Here are my 3 creations using Piggy Tales (Frog Prince Collection) and the 3M glue.

Altered Wooden plaque & letters I used the 3M Tacky glue to adhere the PT PP to the letters and plaque (which I trimmed around). Then I adhered the ribbon, and the letters to the plaque with the tacky glue.
PIGGY TALES: Frog Prince Collection
Extras: Zig pen, Plaid letters & plaque, American Crafts ribbon

This project has a lot of elements where I used the 3M Quick dry Tacky Adhesive. 1 - I glued the 3 frames together and let it dry overnight. 2 - I glued the PT PP the chip board letter and then trimmed around it. 3 - I glued the letters to the frames. I used the glue runner to put together the 8x10 LO.
PIGGY TALES: Frog Prince Collection
Extras: rick rack, staples, Pressed Petals monogram

I used a 3M glue runner to put together the LO. Then I used the 3M Tacky Glue to adhere the border around the LO and the LO itself to the backing for the frame (measures 12.5x12.5) to hold it in place; I also used the tacky glue to PT PP the chip board letter and then trimmed around it.

Extras: SU Pens, Pressed Petals monogram
